Considering the size of the space and the composition of the furnishing is crucial to mapping out the movability within the space, the convenience, and the aesthetics.
For smaller salons, we recommend using a larger mirror positioned to reflect the narrowest area, creating the illusion of more space than there is. Consider also placing it in a corner of the room to reflect a different perspective altogether.
When purchasing a salon mirror it is worth thinking about the colour scheme of the space, and deciding if to invest in mirrors that will contrast or blend with the colour palette. For example, using a black framed mirror against white walls will create contrast, whilst pairing a black framed mirror with a navy wall will blend. Typically, metallics with warm undertones, such as gold and bronze, will pair exceptionally with warm-toned colours like red, orange and greens. Whereas silver or white would complement cool-toned colours such as blues and purples.
Shape is everything when creating an aesthetically pleasing salon. For box rooms with no shape or character, contemplate using a rounded mirror, its smooth curved frame will create the perfect focal points on the walls. Conversely, utilising a rectangular mirror in a space with furnishings with rounded edging can create a lovely visual juxtaposition.
Waiting areas are typically small and near to the front door or the establishment, meaning this space can also be capitalised on by bringing a mirror into the space. Introducing mirrors into the reception area is a great way to bring light in from windows, whilst also opening the space making it feel much bigger than it is.
